Meca-Inox

Shared Contacts for Gmail® helped Meca-Inox to complete their migration from Lotus Notes to Google Workspace, while ensuring their staff too keep the same user experience.

THE CUSTOMER

Meca-Inox is a leader in ball-valve manufacturing and is expanding internationally. Formerly using Lotus Notes, they needed a cloud solution adapted to their global distribution and their employees mobility.

THE CHALLENGE

When Meca-Inox tested their Proof Of Concept of a migration from Domino / Lotus Notes to Google, they realized that they could not migrate their shared address books.

Even though Google Workspace was meeting most of Meca-Inox requirements, they would could not go with Google unless they could ensure to their users the following capabilities :

  • Sharing several address books (per region, per department) with specific users or groups of users
  • Setting different access permissions for address books (edit / read only / delete contacts)
  • Access to shared contacts from mobile devices

THE SOLUTION

While still in 30-day trial version of Google Workspace, they installed Shared Contacts for Gmail® and started their Google Workspace pilot, giving their users the opportunity to enjoy all the features of Google Workspace + contact sharing capabilities. They hadn’t even finished their trial version that they decided to migrate to Google Workspace thanks to Shared Contacts for Gmail®.

WHAT DID THEY SAY

“If we hadn’t known about Shared Contacts for Gmail®, we would have gone for Office 365 instead of Google Apps. “, Jean Chartier, CIO | Meca-Inox
